What stinks, covered in backpacks, and takes 10 years off your life? The Answer: Rome Termini. This is the main train station in Rome that we had to go through to get to Florence--needlesss to say--we had no idea what we were doing--we were both sick with Food Poisoning--I blame bad cheese and lets just say the toilets were less than desirable. We ended up paying some schmuck 10 Euro to help us get on the train-I thought we were going to kill each other and then possible throw ourselves in front of the train just to make sure the misery was over--this is way you'll see very, very few pictures of us on the train---and then to skip ahead a few cities when traveling on our overnight train from Milan to Barcelona--I managed to mess up our tickets and we had to pay 200 Euro or they were going to make us get off at midnight in France somewhere---Not the romantic train ride I imagined several months ago.
In the meantime we did manage to have some fun. Florence was the opposite of Rome and we actually had some amazing meals--Thank you Goldie for the recommendation for Aqua al 2--it was awesome. Amy and Andy traveled down from Bern, Switzerland to spend 2 days with us--one in Florence and one in Milan.
View from the Ponte Vecchio at night.
Ahhhh! Michaelangelo's David--We couldn't take pictures of the real one--but we
actually did see it
Here we are with Amy and Andy in The Piazza del Signoria in front of the palazzo
Vecchio in Florence.
We were so inspired by the art at the Uffizi Museum that we purchased a bottle
of wine and some art supplies and went down to Ponte Trinita to draw the
sunset--People actually thought we were artists--Nope--we are just crazy wine
lovers.
