Yes, Ami's birthday was a month ago, but with me starting school and 4 home Sun Devil Football Games in a row, blogging time has escaped me. For Ami's birthday this year, we all gathered in the Pope Room at Buca di Beppo. Super fun time was had by all. This is an awesome room for a group of 20 or so. Big round table, with the pope's head right in the middle of a giant lazy susan. The waiter just puts the food in the middle and spins it around and everyone eats family style. Ami and I have been enjoying cooking together recently, so for his birthday gift, I signed us up for a gourmet couples cooking class at the Sweet Basil Gourmet in Scottsdale. We were with 6 other couples and we prepared Hot Gingered-Shrimp Salad with Cherry Tomato & Olive Bruschetta, served with Gewurztraminer, Fillet of Beef stuffed with Arugula, Red Pepper & Sausage; Eggplant & Napa Goat Cheese Ravioli with Tomato-Basil Cream Sauce & Roasted Asparagus with Caper Dressing, served with Zinfandel and finally for dessert Profiteroles with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Strawberries & Chocolate Sauce. YUMMY! Ami and were on the Tomato-Basil Cream Sauce Team and it was perhaps the best thing we have ever cooked. It is a little bit of a drive to Sweet Basil, but it is an awesome set up and we highly recommend it for anyone who likes to cook or eat.
